Why do astronomers have such a strong presence on the web?

I'm not making this a complete post, just a few examples of blogs and websites I'm aware of. But we do have a strong presence on the web - astronomers have an unusually high google ranking etc. Is it just because 'we' were here first ('we' excludes me, I'm just jumping on the bandwagon and getting a free ride)?

Examples:
Pamela Gay
Dr Lisa

Science writers who write on astronomy:
Dave Mosher

Hey Adam - not an astronomer! A professional one, at least.
At any rate, I'm a science journalist with expertise in astronomy, spaceflight, planetary science, etc. Would love to cheat and have that qualify me as an astronomer, but I'm afraid that's not the case ;)

Corrected. I'm curious, how did you find this blog post? I'm not aware of anything linking to it

The founder of the WWW was working at CERN a particle physics lab linked with Astronomy - SO you are right they were here first - no we are not social misfits its just that the ordinary guy in the street is too thick to understand 2% of what we do...

The WWW was invented by Tim Bernars Lee who worked in CERN in particle physics and is linked with astronomy in this field - So yes, they were here first.
We are not social misfits but most do not have the capability to comprehend what we do - this is the misunderstanding. Hope this helps
